Outreach

I collaborate with Dr. Michelle Geary at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA on redwood seedling recruitment and survival in post-fire habitats. Key to this collaboration are the research opportunities provided to community college students and their support in data collection. Traditionally challenging institutions to gain research skills, Dr. Geary has been pioneering a novel program that provides community college students access to multiple layers of biology and ecology-focused research. Dr. Geary and I lead teams of students into the field several times a year to install equipment, collect seedling and tree growth data, and investigate new projects related to our research.
